Last night SAAGNY members enjoyed a beautiful evening in Central Islip, New York meeting old friends and making new ones, as the Long Island Ducks took on the New Britain Bees at Bethpage Ballpark.  Some SAAGNY members were able to get to the park early and have a picture taken on the field as the Ducks finished batting practice.  Although the Ducks were defeated 8-2 in the middle game of a three-game series, SAAGNY members enjoyed hot dogs, Big Al’s BBQ, and a selection of beverages.

Thank you to all who were able to join us at the game!

SAAGNY members enjoyed many SAAGNY sponsored events at Expo East this past week.  On Monday, June 12, The SAAGNY Foundation sponsored its annual Lenore Goldberg Memorial Golf Outing at Linwood Country Club, Linwood, NJ.  Although it was a scorcher of a day, the cool breeze off the water was refreshing for the more than 50 golfers who played           .

The day included a buffet lunch, raffles, and prize winners for the longest drive and closest to the pin.

On Tuesday, June 13, over 180 people were in attendance at the Regional Meet N' Greet at Tun Tavern across from the Convention Center.  The food and drinks were plentiful as well as the conversation between old friends catching up and new ones getting acquainted.  It was nice to spend some time with our District 1 Regional partners as well.

The SAAGNY Member Breakfast held on Wednesday, July 14, featured Bill Petrie, Promo Corner as our educational speaker.  Bill's presentation of "Finding  Your Voice" in the promotional products industry was on-point for the 65 plus attendees.  The breakfast included an omelette station, full buffet of waffles, bacon, oatmeal, and more.  Pre-registered attendees even received a $15 gas card.

Many SAAGNY members stopped by the Regional Member Lounge for a snack including - hot pretzels, ice cream treats,  and coffee.  Other members stopped by the booth for their daily concession voucher.

The Specialty Advertising Association of Greater New York (SAAGNY) hosted their fifth annual Summer Showcase for promotional products distributors and their clients on Wednesday, June 7.  The event attracted a record number of exhibitors, distributors, and end-user clients.

Traffic on the show floor was brisk from the time the show opened at 10:30 am until it closed at 3:00 pm.  End-user attendance has nearly doubled in just four years.  Distributor attendance increased slightly as well, with over 550 attendees at the show in total.  The show floor was slightly reconfigured this year to accommodate additional exhibitors and sold out with a total of 70 supplier and multiline representative companies occupying 120+ tables, up from 99 tables in 2015 and 115 tables last year.

“Another record year for the SAAGNY Summer Show”, said SAAGNY President John R. B. Cudahy, CAS of Prime Line. “We are thrilled that this show continues to exceed our expectations. The continued support we receive from our supplier and distributor members makes this an amazing event.”

Over 195 distributor sales people representing over 65 companies had clients in attendance at the show, which included a “Best In Show” display, featuring favorite items from exhibiting suppliers, a gourmet lunch for all in attendance, an ice cream cart for a sweet afternoon treat and gift bags for the end-users, filled with promotional products from more than ten exhibiting suppliers.

Remarked SAAGNY Executive Director Donna-Jean Plante: “It was gratifying to see the hard work of the volunteers, board, and staff come together to make this show another successful SAAGNY show.  As my first show with SAAGNY, it was a wonderful opportunity for me to meet so many members of the Promotional Products industry.  I look forward to seeing even more distributors and more of their clients at next year’s event.”

SAAGNY took a page from the Food Network to host its own Chopped event at the Le Gourmet Factory Cooking School, Englewood, NJ, on Thursday, March 9.  Inner chefs were unleashed and creativity was released as knives chopped and everyone was put to work.

More than twenty attendees were divided into groups to go head to head in appetizer and main dish competitive rounds.  For the appetizer round the “secret ingredient” was lime flavored Tortilla Chips. The first team led by Donna Lo Pinto prepared fresh salsa with shrimp with a crust of chips on a bed of lettuce. The second team led by Tom Rondi prepared sautéed onion, mushrooms and brussel sprouts with finely chopped chips as the sautee on the shrimp.  Each one was beyond delicious but the Judge declared Tom Rondi’s team the winner of the appetizer round.  All the attendees enjoyed feasting on the appetizers.

The main dish round’s mystery basket item was fig newtons.  Tina Moss’s team prepared a dish with fig newton coated chicken and zucchini chips served over a butternut squash puree.  Trish Glazer’s team prepared a chicken stuffed with cheese and fig newtons with roasted brussel sprouts over a butternut squash puree.  These restaurant quality dishes were something you would expect at a high-end restaurant.  Trish’s team pulled it out in the end and was the Main Dish winner.  Again all the attendees indulged on the main dishes prepared by both teams.

Dinner was followed by a deconstructed Tiramisu prepared by Chef Gus at Le Gourmet Factory.  A truly fun night was had by all.

SAAGNY members had a great night at the Westchester Knicks game.  The SAAGNY seats were steps from the court for this game against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.  Besides the opportunity to spend quality time with your family, there were also opportunities to chat your fellow SAAGNY members including Past President Mike Leone as well as current President John R. B. Cudahy.  SAAGNY members and their families enjoyed Family Night at the Westchester County Center.  A great buffet dinner was included.   Attendees even were able to see Marshall Plumlee play on one of his stints back in the Development League from the New York Knicks.
