There are an estimated 15,000 different types of promotional products. According to the Promotional Products Association International (PPAI), the top five product categories in terms of sales reported by large promotional products distributors are:
- Wearables, 22.5 % of industry sales
- Writing instruments, 12.3 % of industry sales
- Glassware/ceramics, 9.7 % of industry sales
- Calendars, 8.7 % of industry sales
- Recognition awards, trophies, emblematic jewelry, clocks and watches, 8.2% of industry sales
